The Board of Governors, CSU System Chancellor, and campus presidents use key performance indicators to measure progress toward system goals.
System Key Performance Indicators
The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) is a national database managed by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). Colleges and universities that participate in federal student aid programs are required to submit data each year on enrollment, student outcomes, costs, and more. These data provide reliable, comparable information about higher education institutions across the country, including those of the CSU System. Full IPEDS documentation is available online. The data are also used to populate multiple public reports that serve to inform college students, potential college students, and their parents.

The Post-Secondary Employment Outcomes (PSEO) Explorer is an interactive tool from the U.S. Census Bureau that shows where graduates work and how much they earn after completing their degrees. Results are based on data shared by colleges and universities, combined with national employment records from the Census Bureau’s Longitudinal Employer–Household Dynamics program.
The Student Unit Record Data System (SURDS) is the Colorado Department of Higher Education postsecondary data collection system. At various points in time, institutions submit standardized data to the Department. These reports represent the final file submissions of the CSU System campuses. Full SURDS documentation is available on the CDHE website.
